As a mother I understand especially for young people to achieve their goals, they need the support of having someone they can turn to for questions and the expertise of someone they can rely on for guidance and practical problem-solving.
Having worked with football agents and spoken with young and former footballers, I understand the needs of sports people, especially those who live alone or who have just moved from another club or country. I want to take away the pressure and worries from their shoulders so they can focus on their careers and enjoy their life’s experiences to the fullest … just like a mother does!
It was therefore of vital importance for me to have a counsellor on the team. Physical health is important but so is mental health.
I have been working alongside the Professional Football Association for five years and helped set up the Mental Health conferences: a project I am really proud of as it made me aware of the need for additional support, especially for younger players. It was therefore of vital importance for me to have a counsellor on the team. Things that seem simple like cleaning, washing or preparing your next days meal, can often turn into overwhelming activities (and can be pretty boring too!)
Thanks to my past experience and knowledge, I recognise what has been missing in the services provided to sports people and I know the clients that I take under my wing will be thoroughly looked after. For clients: I am the problem-solver that is here to help you live the stress-free life you deserve. For parents, guardians and club: I am the person who will look after your loved one with the care and affection of a mother.
